Where is my pantry saved?
In this browser, on this device. Refreshing normally keeps local records, but clearing site data or using another browser, website address or app wrapper may show a fresh demo. Simulated household members share one browser's data, not separate phones. There is no complete in-app export or automatic cloud backup today.
Why can't I sign in with Google or Apple?
The sign-in directory is prepared, but the Google and Apple connections are not enabled. Web sign-in and online pantry storage have separate readiness gates; preparing login does not enable sharing or upload your pantry. The current Android/iOS wrappers open login externally without a return path, so web readiness alone will not make native sign-in work.
Sign-in is not available yet; the buttons stay disabled until the service is ready. No live account is created by the local demo. Use the sign-in page's demo entry to explore local tools. Online accounts, synchronization and live AI are future optional services, not active capabilities.
The page won't load, or a connection isn't available
Check your internet connection and try refreshing once. Website delivery and external fonts need a connection; offline availability is not guaranteed. If an optional account connection is unavailable, return to the browser demo rather than expecting synchronization. Avoid clearing storage as a first troubleshooting step: it can erase your pantry. Email us if the issue continues, with a redacted screenshot if helpful.
What happens to a receipt photo?
It's a temporary reference while you type groceries, not an automatic scan. The browser compresses it locally and can crop it. Duniya does not upload or save the photo in browser storage. Deleting or replacing the photo, successfully confirming groceries, or leaving that screen releases the preview; the original on your device is unaffected. Only the grocery details you confirm are saved. Sample receipt data is made up.
Review items and quantities before confirming. You can find the result in your pantry and Activity. Open receipt review from Shopping.
Can I use voice or buy a subscription?
Conversational AI and paid checkout are not connected. A demo trial is only a local preview and does not charge you or renew automatically. Browser read-aloud, where your device supports it, is separate from AI and starts only when you choose it.
How do I reset or remove local data?
Reset demo in the shared header asks for confirmation and restores starting pantry, household, shopping, meal-plan and activity records. It does not clear separate membership trials, offer settings or every preference.
For complete local removal, clear this site's storage in your browser settings, or the relevant wrapper's app data. Repeat for each browser or address you used. Opening Duniya again creates starting demo data. We cannot remotely restore or delete device-only records. Read the Privacy policy for more detail.
How do I make a privacy request?
Email hello@duniya.io and describe your request. We can address information we hold, such as support correspondence, subject to verification and applicable law. We cannot access your device-only pantry. Please do not send your entire pantry or receipt unless it is necessary for your question.
You can also read our Privacy policy and Terms of use without signing in.
How do allergy preferences differ from diet filters?
Select Vegan in optional setup or the daily meal dietary choices; All, Vegetarian, Eggs okay and Non-veg remain available. Your choice is remembered for this person and pantry in this browser and applies to meal recommendations and planning alongside your ingredient restrictions. Vegan excludes listed animal-derived ingredients, including optional dairy; uncertain animal composition is excluded too. It does not mean allergy-safe. Soy and nut allergies can still conflict with vegan meals. Changing diet does not clear allergies; revisit setup or meal preferences to edit either separately.
Start optional checkbox setup from local preference setup, linked on sign-in/account pages; it does not create a live account. “Skip for now” leaves unsaved choices as “Allergies not set” and keeps any previously saved restrictions. Reopen the checkboxes before choosing your Meal of the day or adding a planned meal. Saved choices remain when you change days or meals.
Choose “Milk / dairy allergy” for milk-protein avoidance: examples include milk, butter, ghee, cheese, paneer, yogurt, cream, whey and casein. Milk allergy and lactose intolerance are different. Lactose-free dairy can still contain milk proteins; it is not a replacement for the milk-allergy category. Consult qualified guidance for your needs.
Diet filters are not allergy checks. On Cook now, open “Edit allergies & ingredients to avoid” to select the nine US major allergen categories, optional mustard, celery/celeriac, lupin and molluscs, or catalog ingredients. Molluscs such as oysters and squid are separate from crustacean shellfish such as shrimp and crab. Not every allergy is covered. Choices stay local for this person and pantry space, separate from other people and spaces; household choices are not combined or synchronized.
Under “Additional avoidances,” gluten-containing cereals to avoid includes wheat, rye, barley and unverified oats, not a celiac-safe guarantee. Sulphites/sulfites sensitivity is not a diagnosis: our ingredient lists cannot verify presence or amount, so selecting it pauses recipes with “cannot verify” reasons. We do not invent safe thresholds. Check labels and qualified guidance rather than removing a necessary restriction to get suggestions. Other ingredient exclusions come only from the catalog; there is no automatically screened custom text. Read the FSA allergen reference.
With restrictions selected, conflicting and unverified recipes are excluded, including optional ingredients and uncertain mixtures. Existing meals and history stay in place with reasons; cooking and recipe/plan groceries pause when a meal conflicts. No matching recipes? Check your preferences and meals, but do not remove medically necessary restrictions merely to get results.
Use “Save preferences” to edit or “Remove saved preferences” to remove only these choices without resetting pantry data. If a saved record is invalid or unreadable, the app pauses recipes visibly until you explicitly save or remove preferences; check browser storage permissions if saving fails. These potentially sensitive selections are not sent to cloud or AI services.
This cannot guarantee food safety or detect brands, substitutions or cross-contact. Check labels and seek qualified guidance. Read the FDA food allergy reference and our Terms.
