Privacy policy

Your pantry lives in your browser today. This policy explains what stays on your device and what information is involved in visiting Duniya or contacting us.

Effective and last updated:

1. Who operates Duniya

Duniya is operated by WEBDEAN INC. This policy covers the Duniya website and its current browser-based experience, including when opened inside an app wrapper.

2. What is available today

Pantry tracking, recipe matching, shopping lists, cooking and purchase history, meal planning, and simulated household sharing are available locally. Household sharing currently simulates people on one device; it does not synchronize with another person's phone.

Google and Apple sign-in are not configured. Live accounts, online pantry synchronization, provider-backed AI text or conversational voice, and payment checkout are not active. Membership and trial screens are browser-only previews, not paid subscriptions. Prepared connection code does not make these services available or automatically upload your local pantry. If optional online services become available, their data handling will be explained before you use them.

A dedicated AWS Cognito sign-in directory has been created, but Google and Apple provider connections are not verified or enabled. Prepared web sign-in uses a separate readiness gate from online pantry storage. The configured web return address is duniya.io; current native wrappers do not have a working sign-in return path.

3. Information you enter and local storage

The app saves pantry items and quantities, open and backup stock, shopping entries, meal plans, cooking and purchase activity, local household names and simulated people or invitations, and settings in your browser's local storage. Receipt details you confirm can include typed item text, quantities, store, purchase date and optional prices. Your number-of-people preference, selected app mode, demo trial timestamps and demo offer settings use separate local preferences or records.

These records let the app remember your pantry and choices after a refresh. The current local experience does not send these saved records to an account service. Someone with access to the same browser profile may be able to see them. A different browser, device, website address or app wrapper may have separate storage.

The browser also uses session storage to remember page scroll positions during navigation. The prepared optional account flow uses session storage for sign-in state and tokens, and pending-operation retry information if connected services are used. This does not create a working login today. Local storage is not a server backup and may be blocked, cleared or lost.

If web sign-in is enabled later, Cognito and the provider you choose will process sign-in information under their own policies. Prepared code verifies identity before opening a separate, initially empty local pantry for that Cognito subject. Demo people, pantry data and allergy/diet preferences are not silently moved or attributed to that identity. This local account pantry is not cloud storage or a backup, and people using the same browser profile may still access device records. Sign-out clears the active local session, not those local records.

4. Receipt photos and audio

If you choose a receipt image or use the camera picker, the browser prepares a compressed image and may crop it locally. The photo is held in this screen's memory, not written to local storage or uploaded by the receipt feature. Replacing or deleting the photo, successfully confirming the receipt, or leaving the screen releases its preview. Duniya does not delete the original photo from your device or photo library.

Automatic receipt text recognition is not available. You type and review groceries yourself, or choose clearly labeled sample data. Only confirmed grocery details update the saved pantry and activity.

The disconnected conversational voice preview does not start a microphone or send audio to an AI provider. Typed preview questions stay in the dialog's memory, are not saved to browser storage, and are cleared when the active pantry or simulated person changes or the dialog is unmounted. Optional browser read-aloud uses your browser or device's speech service after you choose it. Some voices may use an online service; that processing depends on your browser, device and selected voice, not a Duniya AI subscription.

Allergy and ingredient-avoidance preferences

Your separate dietary choice (All, Vegetarian, Vegan, Eggs okay or Non-veg) is saved in the same local person/pantry/mode preference record when you save setup or choose it before daily meals. It is used together with, not instead of, allergy and ingredient exclusions. Vegan is not an allergy-safety guarantee; listed animal-derived ingredients, including optional dairy, exclude recipes. Editing diet does not clear your saved ingredient exclusions. Like other local preferences, this choice is not uploaded to accounts or AI.

If you choose allergens, additional avoidances or catalog ingredients in “Allergies & ingredients to avoid,” Duniya saves those choices in a separate local browser record. They may reveal potentially sensitive health-related preferences, but selecting them is not a medical diagnosis. Optional categories include the nine US major allergens plus mustard, celery/celeriac, lupin and molluscs (separate from crustacean shellfish). Separate gluten-containing cereal avoidance and sulphites/sulfites sensitivity choices are not diagnosed allergies. These choices do not cover every possible allergy or intolerance.

Gluten avoidance conservatively includes wheat, rye, barley and unverified oats; it is not a celiac-safe guarantee. Sulphites/sulfites presence and amounts cannot be verified from our listed ingredients, so selecting this sensitivity pauses recipes with “cannot verify” reasons. Duniya does not infer safe quantities or thresholds. Only catalog-backed ingredients can be selected for other exclusions; no unscreened custom-text field is offered.

Optional local setup is available from sign-in/account pages even though account creation is not enabled. You can skip without saving an answer: “Allergies not set” means no preferences were saved, not that you have no allergies. Skipping does not erase existing choices. An explicitly saved empty selection means no filters were selected, not a confirmed absence of allergies. You can revisit the same checkboxes before choosing a daily meal or adding a planned meal; switching days or meals does not clear the saved choices.

Choices are separate for each active person and pantry space, and separate between the demo and any optional connected mode. In a household, they affect only that person's recipe view and actions in that space; they are not combined for everyone in the household. Anyone using the same browser profile may access or change these local records. They do not synchronize with another device.

These selections are used locally to exclude recipes with listed conflicts or unverified ingredient metadata, including optional ingredients, and to block related cooking, planning and recipe/plan grocery actions. They are not implicitly uploaded to an account, sent to an AI provider, or included in the explicit pantry import. Existing pantry, shopping, plan and history records are not deleted when preferences change.

Open “Edit allergies & ingredients to avoid” on Cook now to edit and save, or choose “Remove saved preferences” to delete only this person's preferences for this space and mode, without resetting the pantry. Repeat for any other profiles/spaces you used. Clearing the site's browser storage also removes them. Reset demo alone does not remove this separate record. Invalid or unreadable records visibly pause recipe actions rather than silently switching off restrictions.

This is a listed-ingredient filter, not a guarantee about the food you buy or cook. Labels, brands, substitutions and cross-contact require your own checks and qualified guidance. Following the optional FDA food allergy reference opens an external website with its own information handling.

The optional FSA allergen reference also opens an external website; visiting it is your choice, not an upload of your preferences.

5. Website delivery, fonts and diagnostics

Local pantry storage does not mean that visiting the website involves no data processing. Lovable provides website hosting and platform delivery. Loading the site involves technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request timing, handled by the delivery infrastructure.

The published website includes Lovable-provided visitor statistics and event/error reporting scripts. These can process page visits, navigation and referring-page information, browser/device information, locale or approximate country indicators, performance measurements, and error messages, stack traces and page context. Visitor statistics are sent through the site's own domain. The currently delivered statistics script can use a short-lived session identifier or cookie. Do not put sensitive information in page URLs or error reports.

The app also logs technical failures for troubleshooting and forwards caught page errors to available platform reporting hooks; editor-preview diagnostics can differ from the public site. We do not add a separate advertising or analytics SDK in the app. We do not intentionally include your pantry records or receipt images in statistics events, but error details may contain information relevant to a failure. Platform logging and retention are not controlled by the local pantry reset.

The site loads the Outfit font from Google Fonts at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Your browser contacts Google to obtain it, sending network and browser request information. See Google's privacy policy and Lovable's privacy policy for their handling of information. External recipe-video search links open YouTube only when you follow them; the destination's policies apply.

6. When you email us

If you email hello@duniya.io, we receive your email address, the message and any attachments or information you include. Our email service processes that correspondence to deliver and store it. We use it to answer questions, troubleshoot, handle privacy requests and keep necessary business records. Please avoid sending passwords, access tokens, payment details or unnecessary sensitive information; redact screenshots and receipts before sending them.

7. Retention and deleting your data

Local records remain while your browser keeps the site's storage. You can edit or delete pantry and shopping entries using their existing controls. The shared header's Reset demo action, after confirmation, replaces local demo people, households, pantries, shopping lists, meal plans and history with starting demo data; it is not a full erasure tool. It does not clear separate demo membership trials, offer settings or all browser preferences.

To remove all locally saved Duniya records, use your browser's site-data controls to clear storage for the address you used, including local storage, session storage and cookies. A wrapper may instead require clearing its app data. Do this for each browser, address or wrapper separately; it can remove choices and any session information. Opening the app again creates starting demo data. There is no in-app complete backup/export or automatic recovery service.

We have not set a fixed retention period for support correspondence or platform delivery/diagnostic records. Their retention depends on the purpose, service settings and applicable requirements. Clearing your browser does not delete an email you sent us or hosting records.

Prepared account-removal code distinguishes deleting a Cognito sign-in account from clearing local device records. Federated removal is unavailable until provider revocation is securely connected, including Apple's server-side requirements; it does not report completed deletion today. Clearing site data does not itself delete a future online sign-in account.

8. Your questions and requests

Email hello@duniya.io to ask about information we hold or to request access, correction or deletion, as applicable under law. We may need enough information to verify and locate a request, without asking for unnecessary details. We cannot remotely inspect, retrieve or erase pantry data that exists only in your device's browser. Use the local controls above for those records. Legal obligations and technical limitations may affect what we can do.

9. Security and children

We use available technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the current service, but no website or storage method is completely secure. Keep your device and browser protected, especially on a shared device. The demo has no account-based access protection for local records.

Duniya is a general pantry and recipe tool, not a service specifically directed to children. We do not currently verify age or offer a child-account system. If you believe a child sent us personal information, contact us so we can consider appropriate action. Children should involve a parent or guardian when sharing information or using cooking guidance.

10. Changes and related pages

We may update this policy as the service or its data handling changes. The date above identifies this version. Material changes, including any future optional online services, will be explained as appropriate before those services are used.
